Co-organized by the Labour and Welfare Bureau and various rehabilitation and social welfare organizations, the 2026 'Diversity and Inclusion Art Festival' will be held at the Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon Cultural District from March 20 to 29. The festival uses art as a medium to connect people of different abilities, ages and backgrounds, inviting them to explore the everyday landscapes of an inclusive city together.

This year's event will showcase the creativity and diverse talents of people with disabilities through a variety of formats, including art exhibitions, inclusive art performances, art markets, inclusive art workshops and community art events. While appreciating art, the public can also rethink the true meaning of 'inclusion' in a relaxed manner.

'Hong Kong Through My Eyes' Art Exhibition: Over 50 Works Offering a Detailed Look at the City's Landscape

The 'Hong Kong Through My Eyes' art exhibition will be open to the public at the Xiqu Centre Atrium from March 20 to 29. It is expected to showcase over 50 pieces of flat, three-dimensional and digital art, covering a range of media such as painting, photography, installation, ceramics and sculpture. All the works are created by people with disabilities and artists from diverse backgrounds, capturing snippets of the city and emotional memories through their unique perspectives. In addition to appreciating the artworks, visitors can also join artist tours and access interpretation services such as sign language, audio description and Braille, enabling more people to appreciate art in different ways and experience the barrier-free art space together.

Opening Ceremony and Diversity and Inclusion Art Performance: Two Musical Extravaganzas in One Day, Featuring Cross-disciplinary Collaborations

The opening ceremony of the 2026 'Diversity and Inclusion Art Festival' will be held in the Grand Theatre of the Xiqu Centre in the afternoon of March 20, with disabled and cross-disciplinary musicians performing the festival overture to kick off a series of inclusive programs.

The ceremony will feature a simple lighting design with projected images on a large screen, followed by musical and dance performances by disabled artists who will showcase their perseverance and potential in the arts through the stage. The event will offer sign language interpretation, audio description, wheelchair seating and other accessibility arrangements, and guide dogs are also welcome; a photo zone will be set up in the foyer for attendees to take commemorative photos.

In the evening of the same day, the '2026 Diversity and Inclusion Art Performance' will focus on cross-media and cross-ability collaborations, presenting approximately 8 to 10 programs covering dance, music, drama, multimedia and cross-disciplinary performances. Professional and disabled artists will share the stage, embodying the concept of inclusion through their artistic practices.

Art Market and Inclusive Art Workshops: Encountering Art in Daily Life

During the festival, an art market will be set up at the Xiqu Centre, displaying and selling crafts and daily life objects created by people with disabilities. The market will offer a relaxed atmosphere for the public to learn about the creators' stories and support inclusive creativity. Multiple inclusive art workshops will also be held, led by disabled artists and art instructors. Participants of all ages will be guided to explore the creative process of 'being different yet participating together' through hands-on activities, music and dance, learning to appreciate each other's rhythms and needs through interaction. The public is invited to join and gain a deeper understanding of the significance of art inclusion through personal involvement.

The 2026 'Diversity and Inclusion Art Festival' is jointly organized by the Labour and Welfare Bureau and a preparatory committee consisting of 21 rehabilitation and social welfare organizations. Through art curation, performances and community activities, the festival promotes the concept of 'Diverse Arts, Enabling Inclusion.'
